Self Advocacy Warriors (SAW)
S.A.W. stands for Self Advocacy Warriors.
We are a community of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who speak up, support each other, and lead change in our communities. Together, we are sawing the chains of injustice to build a better tomorrow for people with disabilities. We believe in us.
What We Do
As Self Advocacy Warriors, we:
Build friendships and support one another
Learn about our rights and how to use our voices
Develop leadership and self-advocacy skills
Speak up about issues that matter to people with disabilities
Meet with community leaders, agencies, and elected officials
Educate others about disability rights and inclusion
Work together to create positive change in our communities
Meetings
Self Advocacy Warriors meet on the third Wednesday of each month.
Our meetings are led by self-advocates and supported by ACL staff. Together, we share ideas, discuss important issues, learn from guest speakers, plan advocacy projects, and take action on the issues that matter most to our community.
Whether you are new to self-advocacy or have years of experience, you are welcome to join us.
To learn more or get involved, contact us at happenings@aclboulder.org or (303) 527-0888.
